Livmarli
Maralixibat Chloride
What is Livmarli used for?
This medication is used to treat skin itching caused by a certain inherited liver condition (progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis-PFIC). In PFIC, a substance that your body normally makes (bilirubin) builds up in the liver and causes jaundice. Maralixibat belongs to a class of drugs known as ileal bile acid transporter inhibitors. It helps to lessen symptoms of jaundice such as itching, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine, and pale-colored stools.

Livmarli Frequently Asked Questions
Read the Patient Information Leaflet and Instructions for Use if available from your pharmacist before you start using maralixibat and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily (once in the morning and once in the evening) 30 minutes before a meal. Carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose. The dosage is based on your medical condition, weight, and response to treatment.
To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.
Do not increase your dose or use this drug more often or for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not improve any faster, and your risk of side effects will increase.
If you are also taking bile acid-binding resins such as cholestyramine, colesevelam, or colestipol, take this medication at least 4 hours before or at least 4 hours after taking these medications. These medications can bind to maralixibat, preventing your body from fully absorbing the drug.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not get better or if it gets worse.
